The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

The Nicholas Sparks fans will be excited to know that I have just received word that Maria in Portugal is sending us a hardcover version of The Notebook. Hopefully it will arrive in the next couple of weeks. For those of you who like love stories, this will be one book you'll want to put on your reading list.

Amazon.com
"Somewhere," muses Noah Calhoun, while sitting on his porch in the moonight, "there were people making love." Anyway, head elsewhere for Great Literature, but if you're in the market to get your heartstrings plucked, look no further. The Notebook, a Southern-fried story of love-lost-and-found-again, revolves around a single time-honored romantic dilemma: will beautiful Allison Nelson stay with Mr. Respectability (to whom she happens to be engaged), or will she hook up with Noah, the romantic rascal she left so many years ago? We're not telling, but you have two guesses and the first one doesn't count. Decades later, after Allison develops Alzheimer's, her beau uses "the notebook" to read her the story of the great love she's plumb forgot. The Notebook--film rights already sold, thank you very much--is a little glazed doughnut of a book: sticky- sweet, satisfying, not much nourishment. But who cares? Take an extra vitamin and indulge.

I was wondering if you have Melissa Kantor's 'If I have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's my Prince?' and Dan Brown's 'The Last Symbol'. My mom introduced me Dan Brown's books last year and I love all of his books. Yes, my mom have every single book that Dan Brown wrote (I think). There are a lot more books that I want but I judge a book by its author and title. Still, I'm just going to tell you the list of books I want.

Carlos Ruiz Zafron's 'The Angel's Game' (The original version is in Spanish published last year, I think the English version is already out). Anne Osterlund's 'Academy 7'. Gail Giles's 'Dead Girls Don't Write Letters'. Libba Bray's 'Rebel Angels' (The same writer of 'A Great and Terrible Beauty'). Lurlene McDaniel's 'Angel of Hope' and 'Angel of Mercy'. Martha Brooks's 'True Confessions of a Heartless Girl'. Maureen Johnson's '13 Little Blue Envelopes'. Scott Westerfeld's 'Peeps'.

I just realized some of the books have 'Angel' titles. I love Mythical things. I vaguely recall a book about Mythology. I want that book too! Well, hopefully you can get them Mr. J.

Thank you!

Hi Asiyah,

Thanks for the shopping list! First of all, "If I have a Wicked Stepmother" is on the Teens' Top Ten List so I will try to mooch it. I've donated Da Vinci Code already and I have a copy of Angels and Demons that I may donate to the reading room also. Dan Brown is fascinating.

I got Libba Bray's A Great and Terrible Beauty. Arni in 5D read it and said it was good so I will probably try to buy the other two in the series from Amazon, including "Rebel Angels". Have you read Great and Terrible?

I think Peta has been on the lookout for Peeps by Westerfeld as it was on my wishlist and it is also from the Teens' Top Ten.

As for the other books, I'll see if I can mooch some of them for you. Thanks for helping me to select good new books.

BTW, I'm glad to hear your mother is a good role model for you!!!

Gee, thank you again! I have finish reading The Princess Diaries: Sixsational and I'll return it to you on Thursday. My mom wanted to read Uglies but she's currently reading 'Eldest' sequel to 'Eragon' you should see the thickness of that book! And she just started reading that book like a week ago? Besides, she's busy with work. 'Eldest' is also a borrowed book from a Senior Reading Room in another school. My brother borrowed from his school. I'm sorry for the trouble.

Eragon is a huge hit also. I think we need to get a copy. It sounds like she would enjoy Uglies. I assume she liked Hunger Games, right? You are both going to enjoy "City of Bones" but I'm so busy with it right now.

Did you say you had read "A Great and Terrible Beauty"?

Asiyah, it's no trouble at all. I was hoping that the students would help me find other good books to order through bookmooch.

I want to make the SRR a place where there are always new and exciting books and I need help to figure out what the girls enjoy reading.

BTW, Peta (our book angel from bookmooch in the UK) is sending Westerfeld's Peeps.

Thanks,
Mr Jason
